Adoption fees are non refundable under no circumstances

If I have to take a dog back because it growled, urinated, barked, or any reason where you choose to give the dog up rather than correct it and I have to take it back and do the work all over again it is not fair for you to even expect a refund. dogs growl for different reasons its not always because it's aggressive. dogs will toilet in the house if you don't take them out. strictly no refund so consider this before adopting a dog.

Zero tolerance

Please note Leicestershire Dogs/myself operate a zero tolerance policy to rude, argumentive, judgemental, dominating, controling people and anyone who choose not to work with leicestershire Dogs. If I find it hard work dealing with you or trying to help you because of your attitude the call will be terminated.

Adoption terms & conditions

1. .Adoption fees are non-refundable and are payable on the day of the adoption. This is not payment for the pet but to go towards funding to help other pets needing my help. My minimum donation is £150 some dogs may be more depending on breed, size, and age..

2. The need for insurance is essential as the rescue will not be held responsible for the vet’s bills.

3. If the potential adopters want a dog to live outside, it can only be a dog that is already used to living outside. 4.I

I do not re-home dogs to be used for guarding, breeding or anything other than as a family pet.

5. I do not place dogs in a family home where they will be left for longer than 4 hours a day at any one time. 6. The new adopter must agree to have the pet either neutered or spayed within 3 months if the pet, for medical or age reasons has not been neutered or spayed yet.

7. New adopters must also agree that I can keep in touch for the rest of the pet's life. A follow-up visit may be arranged.

8. I do not normally re-home dogs to people who have 3 or more dogs.

9. If there are already dogs (or other pets of the same species as the adopted pet) they must be neutered or spayed.

10. If the new adopter already has a dog, I will only usually give them a dog of the opposite sex.

11. New adopters are not allowed to re-home the pet themselves; the pet must come back to Leicestershire Dogs

12. New adopters must advise me immediately of any change in circumstances which would mean that the pet is not getting the attention etc, that the pet deserves.

13. If everything goes well at the Home Check and you are able to adopt a pet through me, you must be aware that you cannot at any time part with that pet for any reason, unless he/she comes back to Leicestershire Dogs

14. At the time of adoption, there is a donation expected to be paid for each pet. This goes towards the ever-growing vet and fostering costs and is not a payment for the dog, nor purchase of the adopted pet. This donation is non-refundable.

15. If a dog gets ill on you after adopting it being fit and healthy you will be responsible for vet fees as it left as a healthy dog

16. After a bad experience with the last client I had, I will no longer let any of my dogs go to households with kids under the age of 10 years old. as from 16/08/2019

17. As from the 8TH of January 2020, any prospects wanting to view a dog with the intent to adopt will need to donate £20 online to combat time wasters. If you adopt that dog your £20 will be refunded on the day. If I think you have deliberately wasted my time for example you cant give any genuine reason why you did not adopt after invading my privacy and time you will lose your £20.

If you happen to be interested in adopting a dog which is being re-homed from home/online we would like to point out the adoption process will be slightly different, first and foremost you will need to complete and submit an on-line adoption form as standard, I will require 2 x references one of which must be professional. Once I have received the form I will establish if I can pay you a visit to your premises to carry out a vetting. Once I am happy I will then proceed to let you visit the dog in it's home. If the owner is happy with you/your family you should then contact me to pay the adoption fee via my bank account or on the payment page which will go towards helping other pets in need. Once I have received the donation and it shows up on my system I will then give you the OK to go back and pick the dog up where you will be able to make arrangements to keep in touch with the owner if you choose to.

Adoption fees must be paid by the new owners either via instant bank transfer which shows straight away or cash before they can take the dog home. Please do not let your dog go without the OK from me as to the adoption fee being paid. There is no charge to you the owner unless it's hard to re-home dog i.e Staff / Bull breed or a dog with issues as stated in section 6 of my terms and conditions.

This only applies to who have their dog at home being re-homed by me

Adopting a dog

  • We know moving can be stressful — and your new dog feels the same way! Give it time to acclimate to your home and family members before introducing it to strangers. Make sure children know how to approach the dog without overwhelming him. We highly recommenced all prospects watch our videos if you have kids an or other pets.
  • When you pick up your dog we will tell you when and what it was fed. Replicate that schedule for at least 2 days to avoid gastric problems. If you wish to switch to a different brand, do so over a period of a week by adding one part new food to three parts of the old for several days; then switch to half new food, half old, and then 1 part old to three parts new.
  • On the way home, your dog should be safely secured, preferably in a crate. Some dogs find car trips stressful, so having him in a safe place will make the trip home easier on him and you.

All dogs adopted come with 4 weeks free pet insurance!

Secure a dog

Holding deposits are non-refundable

At Leics Dogs we have a system in place which allows you to secure a dog you would like to adopt / secure. If for example you live quite far away and need time to get to us for a dog you want or just don't have all the funds until such time. We are willing to hold a dog for a day or two with a non-returnable deposit of £50.00. However, you can pay for the dog outright but we would expect you to pick it up within 24 hours. Any time over that period we would then have to charge you £10.00 a day for board and food to where the dog is kept. For more information on securing or paying for a dog online feel free to contact us.

Returning a dog

We have been re-homing dogs for the last 15 years and have and have never had any more than three dogs returned or decided to take it back for one reason or another, we strongly recommend prospects to watch our videos before completing an adoption form as not everyone has experience or the knowledge that is required to keep a dog, for example, if you handle a dog in the wrong way you are more likely to get negative results such as aggression under no circumstances we will refund a donation on a client wanting to return a dog or for us to pick it up from a distance away as it all costs money. Therefore please read these videos below before you adopt a dog from us as no rescue in the country will refund a donation fee and us as a small charity stick to the same policies. However, if we decide to take a dog back you will need to return it to us as if we have to collect it cost for pick up may be charged unless you bring it half of the way. you can complete the return form below on returning a pet.
