    Do you get paid to be a dog foster carer?

    Fostering is a volunteer role, so there are no fees to pay. And the good news is, with most foster placements, you won't have to spend any of your own money on food or equipment. We will provide everything you need to look after the dog. It is also your duty to say if you need anything .

    Short term dog foster carers 


    Leicestershire Dogs are looking for committed people whom can offer short term care to dogs that are in need of new homes in their own home.


    Would you like a Dog but you are not in a position to have one on a long term basis?

    VOLUNTEERS/FOSTERS TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    IMPORTANT NOTICE TO FOSTER  CARERS 


    YOU CANNOT ADOPT A DOG FROM LEICESTERSHIRE DOGS WHILE VOLUNTEERING

     

    Top tips Do not teach dogs bad habits. Correct them! to increase the chance of being re-homed when viewed by prospects.

      

    1. do not let the foster dog jump on sofas. 

    2.  Do not sleep with or encourage it to sleep with you in your bed or sofa.  

    3. Do not allow it to jump up on you or your visitors/friends.  

    4. Do not allow it to dominate you.  

    5.  Do not feed it chocolate or similar tit bits.  6. Do not allow it to bully or intimidate other dogs in your household.   

    7. The dog should be walked at least twice a day.  

    8. Please Keep me updated a few photos is ok but video clips preferred as we have our own YouTube channel. 

      

    FOSTER DOG FEEDBACK

     I would appreciate regular reports on how the dog is doing at least 2-3 times a week, how it is in general, whether it's responding to basic training, easy to handle or not and the home you think would be suitable or unsuitable, etc 

      

    VOLUNTEERS TERMS/CONDITIONS PLEASE READ CAREFULLY


    Please note the terms and conditions below are open to flexibility and discussion. Therefore not rigid requirements.


    All prospects must be prepared to be vetted by one of Leicestershire Dogs representative at some point.


    We would prefer prospects to have a secured garden area.  We do not foster out dogs to anyone whom has been banned from keeping dogs or been convicted for animal cruelty.  It would be welcomed if you would be prepared to travel to rescue a dog. 

     

    All fosters must be prepared to, keep in touch and make regular contact with Leicestershire Dogs.  All prospects must be prepared to submit references on request by Leicestershire Dogs  


    All prospects must be over the age of 21, Reliable, Trustworthy, and have a professional approach. 

     

    All prospects youngest child must be over the age of five years old'  We do not foster out our dogs to households with any aggressive animals. 


     All prospects must agree not to leave any dog for any long period of time.

      

    All prospects must have some basic knowledge of training and correcting a dog in a proper and humane manner. However, training can be given. 


     All prospects must agree to operate and run their business in a professional manner and not bring Leicestershire Dogs in any disrepute. 

     

    We do not negotiate adoption fees with foster carers, If you want to adopt one of our dogs the fee and procedure will be the same as a client whom wants to adopt a dog 

       

    Leicestershire Dogs will not tolerate  volunteers who dont work with with me or take instructions
